DuckDuckGo has launched its ‘Email Protection’ service to everyone and people can start it with ‘@duck.com’ email address.
The beta service was launched in July 2021, and then DuckDuckGO made it available to public for a wide audience. The launch comes with new features that has anti-tracking system, reply function and smart encryption for embedded links..
Email Protection in DuckDuckGo’s email forwarding solution that strips emails from advertising and profiling trackers before they reach a user’s inbox. Once the email is received, users will be able to see the number of trackers removed.
During the testing of the reports, 85% of emails had trackers on them. Users can start using @duck.com without migration to a new Duck email address.
DuckDuckGo Email Protection can provide users with unlimited disposable private addresses to use on website that has spam risk and can be deactivated if the spamming gets out of control. Disposable addresses will facilitate the reduction of data breaches and exposure.
The messages sent over the service are not stored by the vendor, while the little account and forwarding information that is kept for operational reasons is removed within 30 days after the account’s closure.
The new beta version comes with some nice features and improvements, including expanded tracker blocking capabilities with the ability to block links, scripts, images and other media.
Followed by a new smart encryption system that automatically identifies users who click on embedded links to the HTTPS version of the target site, even if the email author used HTTP. The next feature is the ability to send and reply from Duck addresses, which will come in handy if anonymity is needed.
Additionally, a user-friendly dashboard is added for swift configuration of email forwarding, on-the-fly changes, managing account settings, and more.
If you want to sign-up for DuckDuckGo email protection, install the browser extension, and then navigate to “duckduckgo.com/email‘ to register for a new account. For mobile users, you can try the Android or iOS app and navigate to settings to select Email Protection.
